Wearable technology, such as smartwatches, fitness trackers, and smart glasses, is fundamentally built upon a synergistic combination of highly miniaturized electronic components. These components can be grouped into five critical functional blocks:

  1. Sensors: These are the primary data-gathering elements, converting physical parameters into electrical signals. Common examples include accelerometers and gyroscopes (for motion and orientation tracking), optical heart rate monitors (PPG sensors), temperature sensors, and specialized sensors like ECG (Electrocardiogram) or SpO2 (Blood Oxygen) detectors.

  2. Processing/Control Unit: This is the "brain" of the device, typically a low-power Microcontroller (MCU) or a specialized System-on-a-Chip (SoC). It manages sensor data collection, runs the operating system and applications, and controls power consumption to maximize battery life.
